August 2025 edition of The Money Statistics, The Money Charity’s complete monthly round-up of statistics about how we use money in the UK, kindly funded by Vanquis.

From July 2021 to July 2025, consumer prices (CPI) rose by 24.9% overall.

Food prices increased by 37.7% over the same period.

Average UK house prices rose by 10.8% in the four years to June 2025, but in the four years to July 2025, average private rents increased by 29.5%.

Average total pay increased by 25.4% from June 2021 to June 2025, meaning that average real wages marginally increased over the period.

Pay rises varied by sector. Construction increased by only 20.5%, the whole public sector increased by 21.1%, while finance and business services increased by 28.6%.
